Importance Of Friday Jumu’ah Prayer In Hadith

ALLAH Rabbul Aalameen’s Statement in Qur’an-E-Kareem regarding Jumu’ah:

“O People who Believe! When the call for prayer is given on (Friday) the day of congregation, rush towards the remembrance of ALLAH and stop buying and selling this is better for you if you understand. And when the prayer ends, spread out in the land and seek ALLAH’s munificence, and profusely remember ALLAH, in the hope of attaining success.”
(Sure Al Jumu’ah, Verse 9-10, Translation: Kanzul Imaan)

Salaam today is Friday, I am going to share the Important Hadiths from the authentic books of Sihah Sitta or Kutub Al Sittah with you.

• Having Obligatory Bath (Ghusl):

Hadith-E-Nabwi: 1
Narrated AbU Sa’id Al-Khudri Radiallahu Anhu ALLAH’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said,
“The taking of a bath(Ghusl) on Friday is compulsory for every Muslim who has attained the age of puberty.
(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Version: English, The Book Of Al Jumu’ah (Friday), Hadith No: 895)

Hadith From Sahih Muslim:
It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri Radiallahu Anhu that the Messenger of ALLAH Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “Ghusl on Friday is obligatory for everyone who has reached the age of puberty.”

Hadith-E-Nabwi: 2
Narrated Abdullah bin Umar Radiallahu Anhu:
I heard ALLAH’s Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam saying, “Anyone of you coming for the Jumu’ah (Prayer) should take a bath(Ghusl).”

Hadith-E-Nabwi: 3
Narrated ‘Abdullãh bin Abi Qatada Radiallahu Anhu on the authority of his father:
The Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said,
“Do not stand up for Salat (prayer) unless you see me (in front of you), and observe calmness and solemnity”
(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Version: English, The Book Of Al Jumu’ah (Friday), Hadith No: 909)

• Miracle Of Holy Prophet:

Hadith-E-Nabwi: 4
Narrated Jãbir bin ‘Abdullãh Radiallahu Anhu:
The Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam used to stand by a stem of a date-palm tree [while delivering a Khutba (religious talk)]. When the pulpit was placed for him we heard that stem crying like a pregnant she-camel till the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam got down from the pulpit and placed his hand over it.

• Hadiths On Khutba:

Hadith-E-Nabwi: 5
Narrated Al-Miswar bin Makhrama Radiallahu Anhu:
Once ALLAH’s Messenger Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam got up for delivering the Khutba (Religious talk) and I heard him after “Tash-ah-hud” saying “Amma ba’du.”
(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Version: English, The Book Of Al Jumu’ah (Friday), Hadith No: 925)

In this Hadith-E-Nabwi we learn that saying “Amma ba’du.” is Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.

Hadith-E-Nabwi: 6
Narrated Abdullãh bin Umar Radiallahu Anhu:
The Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam used to deliver two Khutba (Religious talk) and sit in between them.

Hadith-E-Nabwi: 7
Narrated AbU Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu:
The Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said,
“When it is a Friday, the angels stand at the gate of the mosque and keep on writing the names of the persons coming to the mosque in succession according to their arrivals. The example of the one who enters the mosque in the earliest hour is that of one offering a camel (in sacrifice). The one coming next is like one offering a cow and then a ram and then a chicken and then an egg respectively. When the Imam comes out [for Salat-UL-Jumu ‘ah (Jumu’ah Prayer)] they (i.e. angels) fold their papers and listen to the Khutba (Religious talk).”

• What to do if you enter mosque during Khutba ie. Imam is delivering Khutba:

Hadith-E-Nabwi: 8
Narrated Jãbir bin ‘Abdulläh Radiallahu Anhu :
A person entered the mosque while the Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam was delivering the Khutba (Religious talk) on a Friday. The Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said to him,
“Have you offered Salãt (Prayer)?” The man replied in the negative. The Prophet said, “Get up and offer two Rak’a Salat. (Prayer) (Tahayyat-UL-Masjid)”.
(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Version: English, The Book Of Al Jumu’ah (Friday), Hadith No: 930)

Hadith:
Jãbir bin Abdullãh Radiallahu Anhu narrated:
“The Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam was delivering a Khubah on Friday when a man came. The Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: ‘Have you prayed?’
He said no. So he said:
‘Then stand and pray.”
AbU ‘Elsa said: This Hadith is Hasan Sahih [it is the most correct thing about this topic.] (Jami At Tirmidhi, Volume: 1, Version: English, Chapter Of Al Jumu’ah (Friday), Hadith No: 510)

Hadith-E-Nabwi: 9
Narrated AbU Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu:
ALLAH’s Messenger Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, “When the Imam is delivering the Khutba  (Religious talk), and you ask your companion to keep quiet and listen, then no doubt you have done a Lagliw (An evil act)

And if a person says to his companion: “Be quiet and listen,” even then he is doing something wrong (Which will reduce his reward). Narrated Salman Radiallahu Anhu:
The Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said,
“Whenever the Imam is delivering the Khutba (Religious talk), it is essential for the audience to keep quiet and listen.
(Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 2, Version: English, The Book Of Al Jumu’ah (Friday), Hadith No: 934)

Note:
From this Hadith-E-Nabwi we learnt that listening Khutba is most important thing. So keep quiet and listen the Khutba.

• Warning Against Missing Jumu’ah:

Hadith-E-Nabwi: 10
It was narrated from ‘Abdullâh bin ‘Umar and Abfl Hurairah Radiallahu Anhu, that they heard the Messenger of ALLAH Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam say, on the planks of his Minbar: “People must cease neglecting Jumu’ah, or ALLAH will put a seal over their hearts and they will truly be among the negligent.”
